How Do I Choose an Immigration Law Firm?
Go to any firm's website, and you will always find certain things: Biographies of the principle lawyers, an idea of what areas the firm practices in, and possibly other information about the firm. What you won't find, however, is often just as telling.
Rarely will you find copies of the firm's agreement or they fee schedule. Please note, agreements for what we do most, PERMS and EB-1, EB-2 Direct Petition cases are available on this site. And most of our fees are fixed as well and with fixed fees, there is little chance of getting into an endless money pit.
You will also notice if you can get fees from some of the larger law firms that their fees are quite a bit more than for small firms. There is usually a good reason for that.
Big firms frequently have something called "Senior Partners." A senior partner is someone who is listed as being with the firm, but who, in reality may do little or nothing on a case you bring to the firm. Nonetheless, a senior partner always gets a share of the fee. By necessity, the more senior partners there are, the high the fee has to be.
At this firm, we have no non-working senior partners. W. David Zitzkat will handle the sensitive parts of every case in the office. He personally writes the cover letters, edits referee letters, writes appeals, motions, and is available for advice whenever advice is needed. The fixed fee for employment-based cases is low, and it is low intentionally. This firm has done thousands of Employment Based immigrant and non-immigrant cases. Attorney Zitzkat has been practicing in the field of Immigration Law since 1981. His success record in the field of EB cases is close to 100% (that is virtually every client he has had has won at least one EB petition). This is not to say that his success rate for EB-1a cases is close to 100 %. It is probably 70%. NIW cases are closer to 100% But, if you look at that Standard Agreement for Direct File cases, you can see that whether you file EB-1a, EB-1b or NIW, or two or three petitions, the fee is the same. Also, there is an option to include appeals, or motions to reconsider. Federal Court Appeals are not included, however.
You probably heard of this firm because your friends have recommended it. Attorney Zitzkat is located in Connecticut, but his practice is national. He probably has more clients in California than he does in Connecticut. Until 2011 Attorney Zitzkat did not have a website on the Internet, but relied solely on word-of-mouth recommendations from former clients.
So, if you have a case you want to discuss with Attorney Zitzkat, call (860) 524 5418 for a telephonic, or email Attorney Zitzkat at DZEsq@aol.com. Initial email evaluations are free. Initial consultation is $60.
